Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing all music for all worship services as well as musical programs and activities at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Part-time position, 30 hours per week.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
ï‚· Coordinate and oversee all music ministry areas and personnel
ï‚· Plan and implement, in conjunction with organist and pastor(s), appropriate music for all worship services through the church year
ï‚· Serve as adult choir director
ï‚· Emphasis on developing and providing leadership for youth choir(s) and their involvement in music ministry
ï‚· Encourage participation in the church’s music ministries by growing the number and variety of music ministry opportunities
ï‚· Develop and provide leadership for Handbell Choir
ï‚· Introduce new musical resources to support and enhance the congregation’s worship
ï‚· Provide appropriate, proficient leadership and instruction for all music ministries
ï‚· Provide coaching/training of Assisting Ministers and Worship leaders
ï‚· Collaborate with pastors and Worship and Music Team in developing objectives, plans and programs
ï‚· Purchase music and maintain the music library
ï‚· Oversee maintenance of all instruments that are the property of the church
ï‚· Plan and maintain annual Music budget lines
ï‚· Attend music and worship related workshops for the purpose of enhancing the programs of Music Ministry at Grace
ï‚· Attend scheduled staff meetings
ï‚· Attend scheduled Worship and Music Team meetings.
ï‚· Plan and coordinate supplemental music for the summer (e.g., June-August) months
Minimum Requirements:
ï‚· Demonstrated appreciation for the centrality of worship in the life of a congregation in the Lutheran tradition
ï‚· Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Music Education
ï‚· Directing and conducting experience leading vocal and instrumental ensembles in a variety of church music genres
ï‚· Proven leadership in the area of Music Ministry
ï‚· Demonstrated competency in liturgical and contemporary worship styles
ï‚· Appropriate interpersonal skills including the ability to work cooperatively with pastoral leadership, staff, and congregation

ï‚· Annual Salary – commensurate with experience – paid semi-monthly
