Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go. And when he is old, he will not depart from it. 

 Purpose: Christ the King’s mission is to Serve Jesus and Transform Lives Through Faith. We believe Youth and Family ministry is vital to serving Jesus and transforming the lives of our children and youth through the development of faith skills, biblical knowledge and application, building meaningful relationships and by doing so equip the next generation of believers to engage the world in faith and service.

 Qualifications:

  • Worship regularly
  • Can articulate and share faith with others.
  • Knowledge of Scripture
  • Youth ministry experience preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • 21 years or older
  • Technology friendly…can engage youth with social media and use technology as a medium to spread the gospel
  • Criminal Background check with favorable results
  • Review policy manual  

Relationship Building:

  • Each youth receives from the youth director a monthly personal contact and a face-to-face visit. Check-ins through “texting”.
  • Monthly gatherings onsite or offsite are designed and scheduled monthly from Sept – Thanksgiving/Advent and January through Easter
  • June-Aug one youth camp experience and service project
  • Faith Webbing – develop support and recruit and train adults to be mentors, prayer partners [it takes an entire community to raise a child/youth in faith] with youth.

Teaching:

  • Develop a monthly Bible study series to engage youth in relevant topics and help them live out their faith practices in their daily life
  • Grace Mapping with confirmation class
  • Lutheran Identity [Word, Confessional Church, Sacraments-Baptism and Holy Communion, Mission and Vocation 

Administration:

  • Monthly written report to pastor
  • Each youth receives from the youth director a monthly personal contact and a face-to-face visit. Check-ins through “texting”.
  • Some office hours are kept each week to attend staff meetings and ministry planning but the goal is to be connecting with children and youth in church, in their homes, schools and in our community
  • Monthly supervisory meeting with pastor
  • Monthly newsletter-youth page
  • Develop Youth Facebook page
  • Develop CTK website youth page

Professional Development:

  • Attend two synod sponsored youth leadership workshops
  • One continuing education workshop per/yr          

Hours and pay:

25 - 30 hours per/month [may vary from week to week, but minimum of 5 in any one week]

$14.00 per/hr. plus mileage to and from events and activities

Expectations for youth and family:

It is CTK’s expectation that before our youth graduate, that they will be equipped with the following:

 A personal relationship with Jesus Christ

  • Jesus is Lord of the Church and Lord of their lives
  • Basic Lutheran Biblical principles
  • Basic Faith Skills: how to read the Bible, major biblical stories taught in confirmation class, ability to openly talk about their faith, witness to others, and have a desire to love God and love their neighbor as themselves through serving in the world.
  • Service and vocation  
  • Become a faithful steward of spiritual gifts, skills and financial resources
  • Enjoy God! Have fun!
