Prof Boundaries In Ministry Workshops Registrations As Of 9 16 15 pdf

The deadline for registering for either the September 22 or 23 Professional Boundaries in Ministry workshops is Tuesday, September 15. No registrations will be accepted after this date or on-site. Since we are providing materials and lunch, we must be firm with our cut off date so we may be good stewards of our resources.

If you do not register by September 15, look for future communications about other opportunities to participate in a Professional Boundaries in Ministry workshop.

Southern Ohio Synod Rostered Leaders are encouraged to attend one of two Professional Boundaries in Ministry Workshops being held September 22 and 23, 2015. Our retired supply and interim pastors are also urged to attend so that all rostered leaders may understand the latest dynamics of healthy boundaries as they prepare sites for new calls and stated supply opportunities.

If you are unable to attend, please send a hard copy letter or email to Susan Barton-Nonno, sbarton-nonno@southernohiosynod.org explaining why you are unable to attend. These letters should be received prior to the workshops.

The Professional Boundaries in Ministry Workshops will be held on:

September 22 at Peace Lutheran Church, Beavercreek

September 23 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Zanesville

Registration check-in will begin at 9 am. All attendees will be required to sign in and sign out to track attendance.

Each session will begin at 10 am and end at 4 pm. Lunch will be served. There is a $20 registration fee to cover lunch and snacks. Please make checks payable to: Southern Ohio Synod and send to 300 S. 2nd Street, Attn: Susan Barton-Nonno, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

The following topics will be discussed/covered during the workshops:

  • Boundary basics
  • Definitions
  • Professional/personal boundaries
  • What does it mean to be a rostered leader?
  • Understanding power
  • Blurred boundaries
  • Social media and boundaries
  • Positive boundary practices
  • Strategies for prevention and self care

All synods are encouraged by the ELCA Churchwide Organization to offer these workshops every couple of years. In the Southern Ohio Synod, it has been eight years since our last boundaries workshop. Knowing how to set and abide by healthy boundaries, especially in this age of social media, is important to protect you, your family and your congregation. Please make these workshops a priority in your planning for September.
