Summary of actions taken at SOS Assembly June 4 2016

We had over 325 attendees, including our awesome volunteers, at this year's Synod Assembly at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio on June 4, 2016.

Bishop Suzanne Dillahunt wishes to thank everyone who came out to learn, participate, help, meet new friends and worship. YOU make the assembly what it is and we thank you for your participation.

We also thank you for your prayerful consideration and discussion that led to the passage of the following items on our agenda:

Fiscal Years 2017 & 2018 Mission And Ministry Plans

2017 Ordained Ministers Compensation Guidelines With Housing Allowance

2017 Ordained Ministers Compensation Guidelines With Parsonage

2017 Lay Rostered Leaders Compensation Guidelines

God's Work Our Hearts And Hands…Memorial For Military Personnel Veterans And Their Families (with an amendment making 'Wounded Warrior Programs' all lower case rather than title case.)

Additionally, the following individuals in our synod were elected to Synod Council for a four year term:

Mrs. Marjorie Ellis - Lay Female, Central Ohio

Rev. Laura Leach Shreffler - At Large Clergy

Bishop Dillahunt would also like to thank everyone for their generous donations collected during assembly in support of the Flint Michigan Water Relief and ELCA World Hunger. Total collection for each offering is listed below:

Flint Michigan Water Relief - $192

ELCA World Hunger - 1,401.95*

*Please note that $25 of this was donated by our homeless and working poor brothers and sisters in Christ who attend the Sonrise Breakfast at First English Lutheran in Dayton. We are humbled by your generosity toward our brothers and sisters around the world.

Finally, if you have not yet viewed the Bishop's Assembly Video on our YouTube channel, please take some time to watch it and share with your congregation. The video highlights how we, as a synod, share the Good News of Jesus Christ in our communities and congregations. It is an excellent reminder that we are Stronger and Better Together: Joining Jesus in the Restoration of the World.
