Invitation to be a part of National VA Chaplain Center's free TRAIN THE FACILITATOR Community Clergy Training Program

We invite a clergy or lay leader from your congregation or organization to attend the National VA Chaplain Center's free "TRAIN THE FACILITATOR" Community Clergy Training Program.  The purpose is to teach persons of faith how to facilitate a course that TRAINS OTHERS how to support troops and their families.

DATES & TIMES:  August 24, 2016: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.  &   August 25, 2016: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.   Participants are asked to commit to attending both sessions.

LOCATION:  The Ohio National Guard Headquarters at 2825 W. Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235

Students will be INTRODUCED TO and discuss four web-based program modules.

They include:
1.  Military Culture and Wounds of War
2.  Pastoral care with Veterans and their Families
3.  Mental Health Services & Referrals
4.  Building Community Partnerships

Deacon Todd Tucky from St Mary's Catholic Church in Delaware recently attended this program in Zanesville hosted by the Southern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  He says, "The Community Clergy Training Program is the culmination of a lot of research and experience. This program made it easy for me to bring this important information to others. It was the missing piece because I didn't  have the means or opportunity to develop a military ministry on my own or begin to know how to help others do it. The program is well thought out and packaged 'ready to go;'  it is a game changer! I am recommending that the Columbus Diocese adopt it as a tent-pole program to engage clergy and others wanting to assist with this vital ministry."

Ideal participants include:
1.  Religious and lay leaders who currently host military ministries and want to help others get started.
2.  Ohio military ministry leaders.
3.  Religious and lay leaders who have a passion for establishing a military ministry and are willing to train others.
4.  Denomination or network representatives willing to teach others how to minister to troops and families.
5.  Military chaplains
6.  VA chaplains

If you would like to participate, we ask each person to complete and return the R.S.V.P. form below as soon as possible but no later than August 19, 2016.  Space is limited.
