Bishop Dillahunt's letter regarding our new DEM and Vice President of Synod Council

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ in Southern Ohio,

Grace and peace be with you in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. Stronger and Better Together…Joining Jesus in the Restoration of the World.

We are Church Together…Building Up the Body of Christ. It is with excitement that I share with you some news: Beginning August 15, 2016, Pastor Katie Kerrigan joins the Bishop’s Office Team as the new Director for Evangelical Mission (DEM).

Pastor Kerrigan was ordained in 2003 and served Pleasant City Lutheran Parish from 2003-2012. She presently serves Christ’s Lutheran Church, Cambridge, OH.

As DEM, Pastor Kerrigan will work with Stewardship and Mission Support in congregations and with the Stewardship Team. She will oversee new and renewing congregations; work with clusters and collaborative ministries throughout the territory, and Global Missions. Pastor Kerrigan will be a resource for congregations, rostered leaders and other ministries in the areas of stewardship, evangelism, and cooperative and collaborative ministries.

As she begins her work she states: “I am delighted to be offered this opportunity to serve the congregations of the Southern Ohio Mission Territory in this new calling, sharing my passion for carrying the good news of God’s love for us in Christ Jesus out into every corner of our communities.”

I want to thank Pastor Tim Iseringhausen and Pastor Nancy Nyland, interim DEM from the Indiana-Kentucky Synod, for their assistance during this time of transition. Please pray for Pastor Kerrigan as she begins this new journey and welcome her to the team.

Another transition is happening this month too. Mrs. Barbara Klatt has resigned as the Vice President of the Southern Ohio Synod. She and her husband, Pastor Emil Klatt are moving to Hilton Head, South Carolina where they have been called to serve a new congregation. I want to thank Mrs. Klatt for her leadership in this synod over the past six years and wish both of them well and offer prayers for their new call. We will miss them.

Our newly appointed Vice President for the next two years is Mrs. Marjorie Ellis. Mrs. Ellis is currently a member of Synod Council, ELCA Church Council and is a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Worthington. I am pleased that she has accepted this calling as VP of Southern Ohio and ask that you keep Marjorie in your prayers.

We also pray for the following Voting Members who are going to New Orleans August 8-13…Pr. Mick Althauser, Mr. Adam Barclay, Mr. Nick Bates, Mr. Don Bennett, Ms. Gretchen Brandt, Deaconess Carmen Colon-Brown, Pr. Sara Cutter, Pr. Grant Eckhart, Mrs. Beth Ewing, Pr. Janet Hatch, Ms. Gabrielle Hudeck , Pr. Steve Kimm, Mr. Imanuel Lyatuu, Ms. Cynthia Schrader, Pr. Justin Van Orman, Pr. Charlie Woodward, Ms. Marjorie Ellis and myself. During the ELCA Churchwide Assembly (CWA), check our synod’s Facebook, Twitter and website pages for updates on the latest CWA happenings.

As we continue to move in ministry this summer, I ask again that you remember your synod in prayer and in mission support. Lots of good things are happening because of your generosity…thank you and keep it up!

We are stronger and better together.

In Christ,

Suzanne D. Dillahunt
