Obituary for The Reverend Dr. Barbara Jurgensen

The Reverend Dr. Barbara Jurgensen died July 1, 2012 after an extended illness. She was 83 years old. The Rev. Dr. Jurgensen was born November 22, 1928 in Minnesota.

She attended St. Olaf College, Luther Seminary, and the University of Chicago where she received her Doctorate degree in 1982.

The Rev. Dr. Jurgensen served as pastor at First Lutheran Church in Chicago from 1978 to 1984 and as a professor at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus from 1984 to 1993 when she retired.

She served on the Commission for the New Lutheran Church (1982-1987) and the Board of Publication for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (1987-1995).

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 10 am at Hope Lutheran Church, 820 Lilley Ave, Columbus, Ohio. Bishop Callon Holloway, Jr. will preside.

Family visitation will take place from 9 am - 10 am prior to the memorial service.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)
