ELCA Domestic Hunger Grants Deadline for Application is July 17

ELCA World Hunger does more than just give food to people who are hungry: it addresses the root of the problem. In addition to relief programs, ELCA domestic hunger grants fund projects in organization and development that strengthen the foundations of communities impacted by hunger and poverty.

Through offerings collected each Sunday in Lutheran churches, private donors, fund-raising efforts, and other resources that help create a network of giving through the World Hunger Appeal, the ELCA continues to work for the end of hunger and poverty in God's world.

It is anticipated that the 2014/2015 grants process will follow this cycle:

Deadline for submitting electronic application and supporting documents: July 17, 2013. Notifications and checks mailed to grant recipients between February and March 2014.

Over a dozen Churchwide representatives and one representative from Lutheran Immigration and Refugee services in Baltimore, Maryland, form the grants committee, which meets in January 2014 to review each application carefully. The committee agrees on which proposals to fund and checks are mailed to grant recipients in February-March 2014.

Grant application and criteria are available online at www.elca.org/domestichungergrants.
