Obituary for The Rev. John R. Zimmerman

The Reverend John R. Zimmerman went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2013. He was 73 years old.

Pr. Zimmerman attended Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, receiving his degree in 1962. He then went on to the Evangelical Lutheran Seminary (now Trinity Lutheran Seminary) in Columbus. He graduated from seminary in 1966.

His first call came shortly after graduation in Lexington, Kentucky at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, where he served the people of the congregation until 1972. Pr. Zimmerman then went on to serve two other congregations, Zion Lutheran Church in Sandusky, Ohio and Grace Lutheran Church in Westerville, Ohio. He retired from Grace Lutheran Church in 2005.

Pr. Zimmerman is survived by his wife, Marilyn "Candi" Zimmerman, to whom he has been married since 1967.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church, 100 East Schrock Road, Westerville, OH at 11 am. Visitation with the family will take place at the church at 10 am. Friends may also visit with the family at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Rd., Westerville, OH from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday, July 12.
