Ohio Ministries Convocation 'Building an Inclusive Movement to Resist Human Trafficking' Jan 27 2014

 

Register now to be a part of the 2014 Ohio Ministries Convocation being held January 27 at the Broad Street Presbyterian Church, 760 E Broad St, Columbus.

This years convocation focuses on human trafficking and the church's role in putting an end to this exploitation and supporting those who have been a victim and are now free to heal and begin a new life.

Guest presenters are Yvonne Zimmerman and Letitia Campbell.

Yvonne Zimmerman is Associate Professor of Christian Ethics at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, and author of the book Other Dreams of Freedom: Religion, Sex, and Human Trafficking (Oxford University Press, 2012). Prior to focusing her academic work on human trafficking, Yvonne worked with rape crisis centers in Atlanta, GA and Denver, CO, and for the Victim Offender Reconciliation Program (VORP) in Elkhart, IN. She holds degrees from Goshen College, Candler School of Theology (Emory University) and earned her PhD from The University of Denver and The Iliff School of Theology.

Letitia Campbell is completing a PhD in Christian ethics at Emory University, where she also serves on the teaching and program staff for the Masters in Development Practice (MDP) program. Her dissertation research focuses on the history and ethics of Christian short-term mission trips. Letitia is a former journalist and anti-racism organizer, and has written about human trafficking for Sojourners and Presbyterians Today. She holds degrees from Davidson College, Oxford University and Union Theological Seminary in New York City.

The program begins at 9:30 am and wraps up at 3 pm.
