God's Work, Our Hands Sunday Day of Service Efforts Continue to Bear Fruit into the Christmas Season at Faith Haven in Dayton's Inner City

Who would have thought when North Riverdale Lutheran Church and Peace Lutheran Church in Beavercreek teamed up and invited community youth to a safe after school ministry in September as part of the ELCA's God's Work, Our Hands Sunday Day of Service, that 79 people would be celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus just a few months later.

On Wednesday, December 18, 2013, after the regular Faith Haven activities, folks gathered in the basement of North Riverdale Lutheran Church for a meal and time for festive fun. Seventy-nine people attended the first ever Faith Haven Christmas Party and from the looks of the photos below, had a wonderful time.

An added bonus for some was the opportunity to take home a backpack filled with food and stuffed animals to continue the celebration over the Christmas break.

For those who aren't familiar with the new Faith Haven ministry, check out the October 7, 2013 article posted on the Southern Ohio Synod website.
