Obituary for The Rev. David Riley

The Reverend David T. Riley went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. He was 87 years old.

Pr. Riley attended both the University of Akron and Ohio State University, graduating in 1953. Following his graduation, he went on to Hamma Divinity School where he obtained his Bachelors in Divinity in 1958.

He began his ministry in Canwood, Saskatchewan, Canada at Zion Lutheran Church where he served from 1954 to 1956. He then went on to serve Trinity Lutheran Mission, Vermilion, Ohio; Christ Lutheran, Cuyahoga Falls; Holy Trinity, Columbus; Franklin County Jail as chaplain; and Emmanuel Lutheran, Lancaster.

In between his calls as chaplain and Emmanuel Lutheran, Pr. Riley wrote a book called 'Paul's Personal Letters.'

Pr. Riley retired in 2004.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2001 Northwest Blvd., Columbus, at 10 am. The Rev. Steve Wachtman will preside. Clergy are invited to vest and process. The color is green.

Family will greet friends after the service.
