Making Your Personality Temperament Work For You!
This workshop will be lead by professionals from Midwest Ministry Development who specialize in Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) leadership training.
8:45 am - 9:15 am Check-in/registration. Gathering together.
9:15 am - 10:30 am Session 1: Traits common to Leadership Excellence
In spite of the unique nature of pastoral ministry, there are traits common to all effective leaders. A discussion of those traits will begin the day’s event. Discover which (any or all) traits fit your leadership patterns and learn ways to increase your effectiveness in ministry.
10:30 am - 10:45 am Break
10:45 am – 12:00 pm Session 2: Personality Temperaments and Leadership Style
Based on your Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, learn how your personality type impacts your overall pastoral leadership. Determine how you may become a change agent as you learn more about MBTI interior functions and their impact on interactions, visioning and general leadership success.
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Lunch
1:00 pm - 2:15 pm Session 3: The Church Has Personality Too
How does your personality type match up with your congregation’s personality type? Learn about the different types of church personalities and ascertain the best match for your personality type. What kind of leader will you be in that environment?
2:15 pm - 2:30 pm Break
2:30 pm - 3:45 pm Session 4: You and Your Church Governing Board—A Match Made in Heaven?
Church governance through the church council also has a unique personality. How do your personalities interrelate with each other? Now that you know more about your own personality and the general personality of congregations, what can you do to enhance your working relationship with your church council and effect excellent leadership in your church?
3:45 pm - 4:00 pm Q&A
We hope you leave the workshop with increased awareness of your personality, its impact on your leadership style, and its interaction with the personality of your congregation and governance board, with the goal of applying your knowledge to your own church setting.
Has it been years since you completed a Myers-Briggs assessment? What is your type? That information will be helpful as you participate in this workshop. If you do not remember or have never taken the Myers-Briggs, you can take the test through Midwest Ministry Development for $38.00. Contact us (614.442.8822) by May 10, 2013 and arrange to take the inventory through our office. You will have your results before the workshop. If you are unable to cover the cost of the Myers-Briggs test, please contact the synod office. We have health and wellness funds to assist you.
