Assistant General Counsel (Staff Attorney)

Staff Attorney II/III/IV (Exempt position - Montpelier)
The Department is seeking to fill an Assistant General Counsel exempt (non-classified) position to support the Health Care Administration Division, as well as the Department's other regulatory programs. This position is a key element in Vermont's health care reform efforts. Responsibilities include analysis and recommendations for approval of health insurance rates and forms, monitoring the condition of Vermont health insurance markets, ensuring that carriers abide by market standards established by our health insurance laws and regulations, adoption of administrative rules, implementation of Catamount Health insurance plans for the uninsured, assistance with the legislative process, and participation in the development of public policy.
Candidate must be admitted to the Vermont Bar or eligible for admission without examination.
Starting salary range: Staff Attorney II $45,074-$56,326 (2-5 yrs relevant legal experience); Staff Attorney III $53,747-$65,998 (5-8 yrs relevant legal experience); Staff Attorney IV $63,066-$70,616 (8 or more yrs relevant legal experience).
