Your Invitation to Attend
Dear Colleagues:
On behalf of The American Association of Nurse Attorneys (TAANA), it is my pleasure to invite you to attend TAANA's and the TAANA Foundation's 28th Annual Meeting & Educational Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico on October 1-3, 2009. The conference planning committee has developed a diverse selection of continuing education topics, numerous opportunities to network with nurse attorneys, and several special event options to enjoy the beautiful and cultural attractions of Albuquerque.
On Thursday, October 1, the conference begins with a general session on the Finnerty case, the disciplinary defense case from California for which TAANA filed an amicus brief. The conference continues with concurrent and general sessions discussing topics that include litigation, criminal conduct, and employment law. That evening, you are invited to dine at the High Finance Restaurant atop Sandia Peak after a ride to the top via the world's longest tramway.
On Friday, October 2, the conference includes our keynote presentation "At the Margins: Understanding the Intersection of State, Federal and Federal Indian Law in Elder Care." The remaining general sessions for this second day provide a carefully selected faculty of leading authorities on topics that promise to be highpoints of the day including a closing panel discussion you will not want to miss. At lunch, the TAANA Foundation continues with its 6th annual presentation of the Foundation's Community Service Award followed by Nurses Service Organization's (NSO) annual presentation of valuable and interesting information regarding licensure defense throughout the country. Of course, as in past conferences, the conference will include exhibits showcasing useful products and services, as well as poster presentations to increase your educational opportunities. During the evening, members of TAANA may take a leisurely stroll along Route 66 to enjoy a private shopping spree at historic Skip Maisel's Wholesale Indian Jewelry and Crafts followed by dinner at McGrath's.
On Saturday, October 3, arise early to experience the "Mass Ascension" at the world renowned Balloon Fiesta. In the afternoon, TAANA's annual meeting with election of officers and awards ceremony precedes the conference's closing general sessions led by provocative speakers on a variety of hot topics including health care fraud and electronic medical records. For the optional event that evening, we head back to the Balloon Fiesta as they light up the night for Twinkle, Twinkle, Glow.
This year's Annual Meeting & Educational Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico will continue TAANA's and the TAANA Foundation's tradition of providing the best in current health care, legal, ethical, and political issues. Thank you for your continued support of TAANA and the TAANA Foundation.
I look forward to seeing you in Albuquerque!
Sincerely Yours,
Rosemary McCarthy, MS, JD
TAANA President
