Digital Competition Trial Night

On Wednesday, April, 30, Westbridge will conduct its first digital critique session.  All images for this critique must be in digital format.  No prints will be accepted.  This will be our first foray into digital review of images. 

The same guidelines will exist for this digital critique.  Folks can enter two photos for each category (monochrome and color).  The deadline for submission is midnight April 27.  Submissions after that time will not be in the critique.  Images will be displayed for the critique on the club’s LCD projector.

Image Requirements for Digital Critique or Competition

1. Images must be emailed to digital@westbridgecc.com by midnight April 27. 
2. Each image is to be submitted in jpeg format and sized no larger than 768 pixels high by 1024 pixels wide. The number of pixels per inch is not critical, but you may set it to 96 or 100.  Color space should be sRGB.  Quality should be 80% (high) to 100% (maximum).
3. The file name for each image is to include the member’s first name, last name, title of image followed by BW (for black and white) or C (for color). Example: Jane Smith Rose Number 1 C.jpg or Jane Smith Rose Number 2 BW.jpg. 
4. The subject line of the e-mail should include the month and competition or critique. Example: April Critique.

To size an image: Adobe Photoshop > Image Size > and type no more than 768 pixels high (the width will automatically adjust. Make sure the boxes “Constrain Proportions” and “Resample Images” are checked.

To convert an image to sRGB: Adobe Photoshop > Edit > Color Settings > At color space RGB make sure sRGB IEC61966-2.1 is selected.

To convert an image to jpeg: Adobe Photoshop > File > Save as > at “Format” select JPEG and at “File Name” use First name, Last name, Title, “BW” or “C” > Save > and verify that the final size of the image is 1 MB/1024 K or less (the approximate size of the image is located in the “Size” box and is indicated by ~ number of K /seconds @ 56.6Kbps).

If your version of Photoshop includes the File > ‘Save for web or devices’ dialog, you may want to use that method instead.
