Bob Mauck Combines Hobbies into Lifelong Pursuit

WCC's own Bob Mauck was featured in the Spring 2005 issue of Senior Source, Columbus' Lifestyle Magazine for Mature Adults.

Excerpts from this article include:

"Throughout the years, Bob, has combined travel and photography, a passion he has pursued since 1938. Bob has used this gift to capture the wildlife, the countryside and the people of the many places he and (wife) Evelyn have visited."

"Bob Mauck and his wife have been on trips with me all over the world. They never complain and are a perfect representation of our senior society," says Jack Hanna, director emeritus of the (Columbus) Zoo.

Some of the locations include Africa, Alaska; Amish Country; the Artic Circle; Argentina; Australia; Bali; Canada; Chile; France; Eastern Europe; the Galapagos Islands; India; Indonesia; Italy; New Guinea; Peru; Portugal; Russia; Spain; Sumatra; Thailand and even Downtown Worthington.

He credits love of photography as a key to his active life. He advises other retirees to get an interest.

"Photography is a great challenge," says the 81 year old who turned his crawl space into a dark room to develop the slide film in which he specializes, and makes enlarged prints from some of the slides.

Bob speaks of his life and says "We've had a good life. We truly have. I'm kind of proud of it," he says, thoughtfully. "We're so lucky."

Westbridge Camera Club can proudly say Bob Mack is a member we admire. He has been a roll model and mentor to all.
