New Licenses and Renewals from the Desk of the AAC President!

Renewing Your License

It is extremely important that chiropractors begin their re-licensure process early, preferably at the beginning of their birth month, to avoid unnecessary delays, penalties, or interruptions in licensure status.

The re-licensure process involves several steps that require advance preparation and processing time. Before a chiropractor can begin the renewal application, they must first create a new account within the licensing system. Once the account is created, it generally takes approximately three business days for the account to be reviewed and approved. An email will then be sent granting access to the portal and application process.

In addition, chiropractors should ensure they have all required continuing education documentation prepared and ready for upload prior to beginning the application. Missing or incomplete documentation can further delay approval and place the license renewal at risk.

Applicants must also verify that their payment has been successfully processed. Failed or incomplete payments may result in late fees, additional administrative delays, or possible lapses in licensure.

For these reasons, chiropractors are strongly encouraged to begin the renewal process as early as possible during their birth month to allow sufficient time for account approval, document submission, payment verification, and completion of all licensing requirements before the expiration deadline.

New License Applicants

Chiropractors seeking a new license in the state of Arizona are advised to begin the licensing process as early as possible. The process can take approximately 4–6 months due to required background checks conducted through DPS and the FBI. Applicants should ensure that all required documentation is submitted promptly to avoid unnecessary delays.

If you currently hold a chiropractic license in another state, request license verification from that state as soon as possible. Some states, including California, may take up to two months to process and send verification documents. Starting early and submitting all materials in a timely manner will help prevent delays in obtaining licensure in Arizona.

Jurisprudence

Pursuant to A.A.C. R4-7-502, which states, “A score of 75% or higher on the Arizona Jurisprudence Examination. The applicant shall not sit for the Arizona Jurisprudence Examination until the application package is otherwise complete,” once the Board has received all necessary information to complete the application, the applicant will receive a letter indicating that their application is complete and that they may take the jurisprudence exam.

The exam is offered online, and applicants are provided a specific timeframe to complete it. This timeframe may overlap with the period during which the Board is awaiting completion of the background check, which is administered by the FBI and DPS. These background checks can often take up to 6–8 weeks to complete.
