One ACEC Ohio Key Initiatives

As part of the Council’s Long-Range Strategic Plan, a task force was appointed to review chapters ONE ACEC
and work on a plan to improve the relationship, functionality and alignment of chapters with ACEC Ohio.  The overall theme became “One ACEC Ohio” with the intent to increase collaboration and synergy between the chapters and state organization.

With six months of our fiscal year under our belt, a chapter integration survey was sent out in early December to obtain member feedback.  If you have not had a chance to participate in the chapter survey, please take a few minutes to let us know your thoughts about chapter integration by clicking here.

The administrative work for chapter integration has been completed, a unified dues structure created, bank accounts merged and bylaws updated. The following key initiatives are underway:

  • Strategic Advocacy Brief—develop a handout to share the successes of ACEC Ohio’s advocacy achievements. This is a document that can be used by the chapters, all members as well as part of our recruiting package for new member companies.  To read the strategic advocacy brief, click here
  • Scholarships—develop an ACEC Ohio scholarship program that will roll up into the National scholarship program. Regional scholarships of $2500 have been announced to ten Ohio Universities with ABET accredited programs. With a due date of January 4, 2019, four regional winners will be selected by the scholarship committee in February and the top two will be sent to National for consideration in March. click here for more information.
  • Rising Leader Program—research the development of a training program for mid-level employees in member companies with approximately 10-years’ experience and on track for leadership within the firm. Many state ACEC’s have similar programs that the committee reviewed. Not only will the program assist in developing leaders in an engineering consulting company but will also identify future leaders for ACEC Ohio chapters.  At this time, the committee has determined a rising leader program will be beneficial to ACEC Ohio as well as our members and the Board of Directors has concurred.  The next step is a survey to measure interest among our member companies to be sent out in January.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.  I wish each of you a safe and joyous holiday season!

~Beth
