ACEC Ohio Legislative Update--June 27, 2024

This week the Ohio General Assembly wrapped up their pre-summer recess session.  In a marathon 2-day’s this week, they passed the Capital Appropriations Bill, the One-Time Strategic Investment Fund Allocation, and almost two-dozen other bills. The package contains $3.5 billion in new capital appropriations, $700 million in one-time funding for a variety of local initiatives, $150 million for community projects and more than $2 billion in reappropriations to continue previously authorized project spending.

There were only two bills of interest to ACEC Ohio that had any action.  The first is HB 497, the county commissioners omnibus bill, click here for analysis.

The second is SB 155, which removes a provision that was included in the transportation budget that authorized the construction of a new interchange on I-71 in Medina County.  Click here for analysis. This is a long-standing local debate about forcing a new interchange south of the I-71 & State Route 82 interchange.
