Holmes County General Health District
The Holmes County General Health District is actively seeking a qualified candidate for the full time position of Public Health Nurse Supervisor/ Director of Nursing. Under the general supervision of the Health Commissioner, the candidate chosen for this position may work in the Children with Medical Handicaps, Immunization Programs, HRSA Small Healthcare, Medical Reserve Corps, and must be able to work in compliance with state and local public health laws and assist with writing grant reports and request for proposals.
Essential Duties:
- Supervises the nursing staff, and is responsible for the general administration of the nursing division which includes the BCMH program, GVO grant, TB program, and the Small Healthcare Provider grant.
- Coordinates the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteer program in conjunction with the PHEP Coordinator.
- Assists the Epidemiologist in communicable disease investigations and reports communicable diseases to the Ohio Department of Health via the Ohio Disease Reporting System (ODRS) as required by Ohio Revised Code.
- Reviews child fatality cases in Holmes County, maintains the appropriate documentation, schedules and coordinates the Child Fatality Review meetings annually.
- Performs clinic duties and direct patient care, such as administering immunizations, when needed.
- Provides health education to the staff and the community regarding blood borne pathogen safety, lead safety, injury prevention, communicable disease prevention, etc.
- Works with the Medical Director to ensure that standing orders are maintained.
- Works with the Deputy Health Commissioner to create, review, and revise the agencies clinical policies and procedures.
- Maintains required licensure and certification.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
Qualified candidates must possess: Valid registered RN in the State of Ohio; a valid Ohio driver's license; and proof of insurance. All applicants must be computer literate and able to effectively communicate orally and in writing, bi-lingual (Spanish or Penn Dutch) is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors in Nursing, Master’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, or related field, Prior experience in supervisory roles, Experience in public health settings, Experience in grant writing and management
