Public Health Nurse

Marietta/Belpre Health Department is seeking an experienced nurse to provide public health nursing and health promotion services in a wide variety of community settings.

Qualifications/Licensure Requirements:

•  Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Ohio; BSN strongly preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with at least two (2) years of public health or community nursing experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
•  CPR/AED certification (American Heart Association).
•  Valid driver’s license and insurability according to Health Department policy.
•  Bilingual (Spanish or Chinese) skills preferred. Previous experience working with rural and/or Appalachian populations also beneficial.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Provides public health services to clients in clinics, community, and/or home; may be assigned to any number of programs as needed (e.g., communicable disease investigation and control, immunizations, injury prevention, Children with Medical Handicaps, etc.).
• Assesses public health needs of individuals, families, and aggregate groups; coordinates health promotion programs and screening activities in health clinics, schools, occupational, and other community settings; conducts outreach and case finding activities.
• Delivers various complex public health services to program participants based upon their needs, including education, referrals to other public health agencies, social service programs or medical specialists as needed; documents the delivery of services in accordance with Health Department policy and procedure.

The position is part-time (generally 24 hours/week). Pay Grade: 5; Pay Range: $20.25 - $27.35
