Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Public Health Workforce and Community Engagement Director is responsible for managing student internship opportunities, coordinate student recruitment activities, and cultivating alumni engagement including the creation of the first annual MPH giving campaign. The Director, under the direction of the Chair, will maximize community relationships in order to grow public health programs across the university and region.

Minimum Qualifications
|
Master’s degree in public health or related field with four years of public health experience. Must have exceptional interpersonal skills, and a strong work history of project development and completion.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Extensive knowledge of the local and state public health workforce also required.

Preferred Qualifications
|
Strong written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and other communication software.
Documented success leading collaborative partnerships within health care, public health, non-profit, and other community agencies.
Experience working with Marketing and Communications teams.
Experience in fundraising.

Essential Functions and percent of time:
|
30% – Workforce Development Supervise MPH student practice placements, work with agencies and university colleges to identify public health learning sites for university public health programs, and work with faculty and program administration to identify emerging areas for student employment. The Director is also responsible for coordinating program activities that meet the CEPH accreditation requirement for addressing the professional development needs of the current public health workforce, including assessment and providing workforce activities.
30% – Student Recruitment Develop and manage a series of student recruitment activities geared toward medical students, public health workforce, health care professionals, and undergraduate students. Host events on main, Lake and other college campuses, and provide guest lectures as requested. Participate in the marketing of university public health programs, assist in the creation of marketing materials, and assist in social media outreach.

30% – Alumni Engagement Host and participate in events designed to maintain relationships with MPH alumni. The cultivation of these relationships will expand the number of student mentors and facilitate student recruitment. The Director will also work with the Boonshoft School of Medicine Advancement Director to initiate the first annual public health-giving campaign that coincides with the 15th anniversary of the program. The Director also coordinates the activities of the public health honor society and assists in other recognition programs.
10% – Other duties, as assigned

Working Conditions
|
Special contract position with continuation dependent on funding. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply.
Will require regular local travel and occasional regional travel. Availability for evening and weekend activities. Will need to work collaboratively with various professionals, including faculty, university recruiters, and development professionals.
