Position: Public Health Nursing Program Director (Director of Nursing)

Employment Status: Exempt, Full time (40 hrs/wk)

Wage:  Hourly, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Medina County Health Department, a nationally accredited health department, has a full-time opening for a Public Health Nursing Program Director. This position, under the direction and supervision of the Community Health Director, plans and administers public health nursing operations, supervises assigned staff and represents the District in the community. This position actively seeks additional funding sources and directs the grant application, implementation and monitoring process. Participates in the hiring, evaluation and disciplinary processes. Directs and supervises personnel assigned to the Public Health Nursing Program.

Skills, Knowledge, and Ability

Use of electronic medical record for documentation of clinics care; Experience in using web interfaces such as ODRS; Knowledge of nursing and public health science, including basic epidemiology and its application to public health practice; Understanding of laws governing nursing practice in Ohio; and basic knowledge of the community health assessment process and its application to planning for population health.

General Qualifications (including but not limited to):

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio; Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing with Masters in Nursing or Masters in Public Health preferred. Five years’ experience in public health nursing, or related experience acceptable to the Board of Health. Two years’ experience with program management.

• Collaborates with community partners to improve health in a community
• Motivates personnel for the purpose of achieving program and organizational goals
• Develops program budgets and operates within budget
• Takes measures to minimize internal and external barriers that may affect the delivery of the 10 Essential Public Health Services
• Keeps current with technological advances and workplace innovations that support job functions
• Demonstrates the ability to exercise independent professional judgment and utilize critical thinking skills
