News for Academy Members and the Cincinnati Medical Community

Statistics show that most New Year's Resolutions are given up by January 18th, but here at the Academy there is nothing slowing in our resolve. Thanks to your feedback via our member survey and collaboration of our Council, staff and partners, 2023 Academy initiatives are well in motion.

We are expanding the areas you love about the Academy-opportunities for peer connection, member discounts, vital educational programs-and reshaping others to better align with the needs and values you shared in our survey.  In our next News Brief, we will share updates on our newly formed committees dedicated to advancing these initiatives and invite you to take part.

Stay tuned and be sure to renew your membership for 2023!

The Academy Foundation is proud to partner with Center for Closing the Health Gap, True Community, and The Cincinnati Alphas to sponsor 2 free community CPR/AED trainings in February at the Center for Closing the Health Gap.

Academy member Clyde E. Henderson, MD shares more about the importance of this in his recent article, "Bystander CPR/AED...Another Healthcare Disparity."

Details & Registration

The Academy of Medicine was deeply saddened by the November passing of Dr. O’dell Owens, who was a tireless advocate for improving access to and quality of healthcare in Cincinnati.  In addition to the lasting impact Dr. Owens made in healthcare, he was also a champion of education and social equity.

In honor of his service to this community, the Academy Foundation made a $5,000 donation to Cincy Preschool Promise, a local non-profit on which Dr. Owens served as Board Chairman until his passing. Cincy Preschool Promise works to ensure equitable access to high-quality preschools, and better preparedness for future schooling for all children.

Read more about his work with Cincy Preschool Promise here as well as how to donate in his memory.
