Senior Planner

Clermont County Community Economic Development

Pay Range: 56,846 -78,249

The Clermont County Community and Economic Development Department is currently seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Senior Planner. The Clermont CED Department includes GIS, Planning, Building & Zoning, Economic Development, and Community Development.

The Senior Planner provides staff support to the Clermont County Planning Commission by preparing technical reviews of rezoning requests or subdivision applications for approval by the Planning Commission (PC) and being the primary staff liaison to PC. The Senior Planner is responsible for the management of processes (meetings, advisory committee, and public involvement) as well as the creation of content for the county Comprehensive Land Use Plan, county Subdivision Regulations, and any other plans related to land use.

Provides assistance to local communities to review or provide technical support in creating updates to the local Comprehensive Plan/Land Use Plan. Also, reviews or assists in the preparation of zoning resolution text and map updates. Advises Community leaders and the Board of County Commissioners on relevant planning topics and trends. May represent the County Commissioners and/or PC on boards or other groups in relation to local or regional planning efforts or events, including but not limited to the Ohio Kentucky Indiana (OKI) Land Use Steering Committee or Intermodal Coordinating Committee.

Reviews and processes applications for lot splits, replats, and transfers to ensure they conform with Ohio Revised Code, County subdivision regulations, and local zoning regulations.

Website and Database Management: Updates the planning section of the County website as needed. Updates and maintains database(s) containing information on minor subdivision processing, major subdivisions, and other work reviewed by PC.

Works alone or with other persons in short- or long-term team projects to resolve problems or conflicts in any area of county operations or to complete assigned projects at the direction of any county supervisor or Department Head when assigned. Participates in cross-training and maintains proficiency in area of cross-training as necessary. New and other related duties as assigned. Works aggressively to reduce or eliminate safety/risk concerns in current position or work location.

Salary: Contingent upon qualifications/experience. Range $27.33/hr ($56,846.40 annually) to $37.62/hr ($78,249.60 annually)
Full Time
Monday - Friday - 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Probationary Period: 120 days

Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Public Administration, Planning, or other similarly related field required, Graduate Degree preferred. AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) Certification is required or must be obtained within 1 year of hire. Minimum four years of Community Planning experience, including but not limited to: reviewing and providing staff recommendations for zone change requests and subdivision plans; reviewing and providing staff analyses for minor subdivision applications; and presenting staff reports and recommendations to a planning commission or zoning commission. Demonstrated experience writing, editing, and publishing articles and reports for publication. Demonstrated experience creating maps using current Geographic Information Systems Software and incorporating maps into reports and presentations. Demonstrated experience presenting reports, findings, and recommendations to planning commissions, zoning boards, and similar groups in a public meeting. Demonstrated experience using sound judgment to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions that are aligned with agency policies. Demonstrated experience coordinating several projects simultaneously with a series of continuous deadlines. Ability to respond to emergency situations during and outside normal business hours. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
