POSITION/TITLE: Urban Planning/GIS Internship ORGANIZATION: Stark County Regional Planning Commission 201 3rd Street, NE, Canton, OH 44702 Website: www.rpc.starkcountyohio.gov HOURLY RATE: $12.00 HOURS OF WORK: 20-28 hours per week The Stark County Regional Planning Commission (SCRPC) has part-time Planning/GIS internship position(s) open during the summer of 2018. This internship position is to assist the GIS, Community Development and Comprehensive Planning Departments, involving: • Comprehensive Land Use Planning • Special Planning Studies • Data Update, Data Analysis and Map Production using Geographic Information System (GIS) • Filed Surveys/Data Collection • GIS based infrastructure mapping projects • GPS field work • Edit ARC GIS for Desktop software Applicants should possess: knowledge of planning principles and practices; working knowledge of GIS; familiarity with research techniques; skill in the use of various basic software (word processing, databases, spreadsheet, etc.) Minimum Qualifications: • Must be currently enrolled in a degree (undergraduate or graduate) program in planning, geography, public administration, political science or related field. • A valid driver’s license is required for field work during working hours. • Some practical professional experience preferred.
