Joungmin Lee is a Korean composer, choral conductor and digital music artist. As a conductor, he has been conducting church choir for 23 years throughout the US and Korea such as Annandale United Methodist Church and Korean Choir of Greater Kansas City as both a music director. Also, he had been leader of church youth bands for 15 years, and he was in a couple of professional chorales such as Washington Soloist Ensemble and Gloria Choral as bass singer.
As a composer, Lee’s music has been performed in North & South America, Europe, and Asia. He is a Gold & Silver Medal Winner of Global Music Awards and finalist of American Prize. Lee's work has been recognized by numerous competitions and “Call for Scores”, including Salvatore Martirano Memorial Composition Award, Soundstreams Emerging Composer Workshop, Florence String Quartet Competition, Valencia International Performance Academy & Festival, IV Rieti Elettroacustica Festival, New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Chang-Ak Competition, SIME International Electroacoustic Music Competition, SEAMUS, Musinfo Opus-centrum, Bozzini_Lab Montreal Workshop, Florida Contemporary Music Festival, MAR12 Concierto1 Festival Ex Nihilo/Sonosíntesis, SPLICE 2017, Cicada Consort, N_SEME, Radio Transmission Art Pieces (New York 90.7-FM), Busan International Modern Dance Festival, SCI Region Conferences, and 2017 SCI Region IV Student Conference as a special invited guest to present a lecture presentation, among many others. Additionally, Joungmin's music has been featured by the JACK Quartet, PARMA Recordings LLC, Ascanio Quartet, Transient Canvas, the Midwest Composers Symposium, UI Dance and International Writing Program Collaboration, University of Iowa Center for New Music, and Seoul Arts Center. Currently he is pursuing the DMA composition at The Ohio State University, and he holds degrees from New York University (M.Mus in music technology).
