Social Justice Outreach
ONE BOOK, ONE COMMUNITY
The Columbus Metropolitan Library, and eight other library systems, are inviting all of Central Ohio to read one book: Stamped by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi, and to engage in a community conversation called "Let's Talk About Race." Information about events sponsored by the Library can be found: HERE.
We want to bring this conversation home to our church and neighborhood with two Zoom conversations:
- Coffee Hour with Pastor Glenn on Sunday, January 31, at 11 am.
- Or Monday, February 1, at 7 pm with Scott McPhail.
You can check out Stamped-- print or audio--from the library, or download the ebook or audio book at the Library's Digital Downloads Collaborator.
You can also purchase Stamped anywhere books are sold. We recommend locally-owned Ujaama Bookstore, 1511 E. Livingston, 614-258-4633.
NW Columbus Eatery Trail
One way to experience a culture is through authentic cuisine. The Social Justice team of BIUMC created the NW Eatery Trail as a fun way to explore the diverse array of restaurants in and around our community. We are featuring 10 minority-owned eateries that offer authentic cuisines bursting with worldly flavors and multicultural celebrations, AND we are encouraging you to support these community establishments.
So trek the trail and taste the diversity of our community. Tag @BethelInternationalUMC and use #NWEateryTrail in your social media posts to share your experience with us and your followers. Go the extra mile and leave a review on Google reviews or your favorite review app.
Download and print a PDF or visit the NW Eatery Trail custom Google map for details on each stop including links to their website, menu, pictures, reviews, and more.
