CSCA 2017 Convention - Argumentation and Forensics Interest Group - Registration Now Open

Dear Argumentation and Forensics members,

With March around the corner, we are drawing near to the CSCA convention in Minneapolis! I can’t wait for the conference as our division has really robust program offerings. If you haven't done so already, it's time to register and to book your hotel room(s). Registration is now open on the CSCA website http://www.csca-net.org/aws/CSCA/pt/sp/convention_reg. If you register early (before February 20), you'll receive a discounted price on your registration fees! Also, be sure to book your hotel room(s) now while they are still available.

We also need to look forward to future leadership in our division. Please consider running for a 2-year term in the division. The first year requires you to serve as Vice-Chair, which essentially requires mentorship by the chair in planning the conference. The second year commitment is Chair/Secretary. During this year, you solicit the call for proposals for the division, organize submissions, ensure they are reviewed, and formally submit to the program planner for consideration for the 2019 conference. If you would like to be considered for this leadership role, please send me a short/brief paragraph indicating your interest and we will present all interest during our annual Interest Group Business Meeting on Thursday at 8 a.m. in room Greenway B.

As mentioned above, our division is offering very exciting panels. Our Top Competitive Paper panel is presented on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. Additionally, our top discussion panel, “Giving a Voice to the Voiceless” is offered at 8 a.m. on Friday.

Thanks again to those who have contributed research, reviews, and lots of effort to make this conference happen. I look forward to seeing you in Minneapolis!

Kristopher Copeland
Argumentation and Forensics Division Chair
