CSCA 2019 Convention - Public Relations Interest Group Call for Papers

Dear PR Interest Group members, 

As you gear up for the new academic year, I want to make sure that CSCA 2019 in Omaha, NE, April 3-6 is on your radar and in your calendar. As you may have already heard, CSCA is initiating a new online submission system this year, similar to NCA’s Convention Central. CSCA will have more details on that as we get closer to the submission date, and I will be sure to pass those along. 

That deadline for submissions is Wednesday, October 10, 2018, 11:59 p.m. CST.

The PR Interest Group accepts competitive papers, paper panels, and discussion panel submissions. The conference theme this year is Dialogue, so submissions that consider how we might create spaces of dialogue about research, teaching, and service between our members, conference attendees, and communities are encouraged. 

At the 2018 business meeting, members discussed panels highlighting academic-industry collaborations, as well as public relations perspectives on food safety communication, drawing on industry collaboration with ConAgra Brands. Submission ideas related to either of those areas are welcome, and interest in organizing or participating in a panel focusing on those topics may be directed to me at d.sellnow@gmail.com. 

Lastly, as you submit your work, please remember to renew your affiliation with the PR Interest Group as you renew your membership to CSCA to ensure we continue to have a strong presence in the organization.

Dialogue 

The Public Relations Interest Group of the Central States Communication Association (CSCA) invites competitive papers, paper panels, and discussion panel submissions for the 88th Annual Convention in Omaha, NE, April 3-6, 2019. Submissions are encouraged to reflect on the theme of Dialogue and how we might create spaces of dialogue about research, teaching, and service between our members, conference attendees, and communities.

The Public Relations Interest Group highlights scholarship and pedagogy dealing with issues, strategies, and teaching materials related to public relations. The Interest Group encourages members to engage students and each other in the study, analysis, evaluation, and participation in public relations activities. The Interest Group encourages networking and relationship building among students, faculty, and professionals in public relations.

Faculty, students, independent researchers, and community members are all encouraged to submit and attend the convention. University and community partnerships are particularly welcome. Submissions inclusive of all methodological perspectives in the communication discipline are expected and embraced.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, October 10, 2018, 11:59 p.m. CST. CSCA will have a new online submission system this year. Details will be available on the CSCA website closer to the submission deadline.
