Conference Initiatives

Co-chairs: Erin Workman, DePaul University (e.workman@depaul.edu), and Morgan Hanson, University of Southern Indiana (lmahanson@gmail.com).

Committee: Membership/Newcomers Committee

Actions: Work with Susan Thomas (2021 Conference Chair) and Jim Weber (2021 Local Host) to explore concrete methods of recruiting and welcoming scholars of color to the conference. Explore waiving conference fees or offering scholarships for scholars of color. Consider different modalities for some conference sessions/workshops—online, for example—that might open the conference to more attendees. Reach out to minority-serving institutions.

Timeline:  Information gathering in early Fall 2020; implementing initiatives in Winter/Early Spring 2021.
