2021 Call for Nominations for the Executive Board

VICE PRESIDENT

In July 2021, CWPA will say goodbye and thank-you to Dominic DelliCarpini (York College of Pennsylvania), who will finish his term as Immediate Past President. Mark Blaauw-Hara (North Central Michigan College) will then step into that role, and Susan Thomas (University of Sydney) will begin her term as President.
We therefore invite nominations for the position of Vice President. The successful nominee will serve two years as Vice President, two years as President, and two years as Immediate Past President, beginning in July 2021.
Nominees must have previously served (or currently be serving) on the CWPA Executive Board, and they must be current members of CWPA. Nominees may be at any point in their professional careers. Seniority at a candidate's institution is not a requirement for nomination; rather, the nominee should have a history of interest and involvement in CWPA and in the field of writing program administration. Please note that while all nominations are welcome and will receive due consideration, increased diversity among our leadership is a priority to which the organization has committed itself. Nominations of individuals from underrepresented groups and individuals who can lend diverse perspectives are strongly encouraged. If interested candidates have any questions about the position, please contact current Vice President, Susan Thomas (cwpavp@gmail.com).

To be considered, a nomination should include:
  • contact information;
  • a CV (attached or available at a Web site) or a description of the nominee's work; and
  • a statement explaining why the nominee is a strong candidate to help lead the organization, including reference to when the candidate served on the Executive Board.

EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS (3 POSITIONS)

In July 2021, the CWPA Executive Board will say goodbye and thank you to three members who are ending their board terms: Lilian Mina (Auburn University at Montgomery), Courtney Adams Wooten (George Mason University), and Beth Brunk-Chavez (University of Texas El Paso).

We therefore invite nominations for three new Executive Board members, each of whom will serve a three-year term beginning in July 2021. Again, please note that while all nominations are welcome and will receive due consideration, increased diversity among our leadership is a priority to which the organization has committed itself. Nominations of individuals from underrepresented groups and individuals who can lend diverse perspectives are strongly encouraged.
The Executive Board:
In addition, each Executive Board Member:
  • serves as a voting member of the Executive Board; and
  • serves on one or two committees for the organization.
All nominees:
  • should have a demonstrated commitment to the work of the Council and a background in writing program administration (broadly defined);
  • must be current members of the Council of Writing Program Administrators; and
  • must be willing to attend board meetings at the CCCC conference and at the CWPA summer conference during their full term of service. (Technology-mediated attendance is available in special circumstances.)
To be considered, a nomination should include:
  • all contact information;
  • a CV (attached or available at a Web site) or a description of the nominee's work; and
  • a statement explaining why the nominee makes a strong candidate for membership on the CWPA Executive Board; this statement should mention the groups, voices, and concerns the nominee would advocate for if elected to the board.
If you are nominating another individual, please secure the nominee's permission before submitting the nomination.
