OMA Visits Bowling Green

Mike Homan, OMA Vice Chairman, of Wayne Builder's Supply paid a visit to the Architecture students as they built skills with CMU's.

Bowling Green State University students got a chance to put their classroom skills to
the test in the real world during the 17th annual Architecture Student Design Competition
sponsored by the National Concrete Masonry Association Education and Research Foundation.
Andreas Luescher's architectural materials and systems class have been constructing their
designs for four weeks prior to Wednesday's final judging, October 29 at the BGSU's campus.

Each team was given a variety of CMUs recycled from the past competitions, in
different colors and textures. From there, they had to build the structures and make
their ideas transform from paper to the outdoors. The students were judged on aesthetics,
innovate use, functionality, construction and design. Initially ten teams of four or five students
created designs based on this year’s theme of trapezoid corner. Only four of the designs were
picked by initial judging panel to be built. The four constructed designs were judged again
by BGSU faculty and alumni now working in the architecture field.
