Join us for an Outdoor Tour of the Renewable Energy Training Center at INTECH!

“The IBEW Local 134 / NECA Chicago Technical Institute is the best apprenticeship school in the nation” remarked David Long, NECA CEO, at a recent conference. So, come check it out at the Young Professionals fall tour! INTECH uses this 25-acre demonstration site to train union electricians in the latest sustainable technologies. The project stands as the largest outdoor training campus of its kind and includes one of the Midwest’s first facilities aiming for net-zero energy use. The training center features:
Net-zero energy storage building
100-foot-tall cell tower
60-foot-tall climbing tower
Solar car port
Solar tracker on rotating base
75-foot-tall miniature wind turbine
Solar powered LED site lighting
Wednesday, September 30th - 5:30p.m. Tour / 6:30p.m. Food & Refreshments
Following the tour, compete in the Tower Climb Challenge! Prize awarded to top finisher.
(In case of inclement weather, the alternate date will be October 1st)
The event will be an outdoor tour focusing on the renewable energy training center.
Social distancing rules will be in place, and masks must be worn during the event. Wear clothing appropriate for weather, and shoes appropriate for the Tower Climb Challenge if you would like to participate.
