Supporting Workplace Safety: Substance Use Awareness & Reasonable Suspicion Training
Don’t let substance misuse jeopardize your workplace. Employees struggling with alcohol or drug misuse cannot leave their problems behind when they come to work. It is a challenge for employees and leadership. Ignoring the issue is tempting, but the risks are too significant.
Under Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, employers are required to train supervisors of drivers subject to the rules (§382.603, Federal Register).
This training seeks to empower supervisors to identify reasonable suspicion for drug testing.
The program includes:
- Understanding substance use trends
- Embracing employee or member assistance programs
- Recognizing signs and symptoms of commonly misused drugs and alcohol
- Navigating the drug testing process
- Mastering objective documentation
- Strategies for successful interventions
- Essential procedures and protocols for reasonable suspicion testing
You can ensure your team has the knowledge they need to create a safer, more productive workplace.
SEXUAL HARASSMENT TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
The State of Illinois requires public and private employers of any size to provide sexual harassment training to their employees. Training must define sexual harassment, provide examples of prohibited conduct, describe the impact of harassment, detail the various responsible agencies at the local, state, and federal levels the process for making a report, and the legal remedies available to victims. Employers must provide training to new employees within 90 days of hire and on an annual basis. In April 2022, the City of Chicago amended and strengthened its sexual harassment laws. The city repeats many of the requirements outlined in the State requirement. It also requires that in addition to sexual harassment prevention training for all employees and training for managers and supervisors, employers must also provide one hour of “bystander” training for all employees.
This program is complimentary for ECA members!
