Last night, Powering Chicago launched the ninth episode of the YouTube series The Power of Better.
The Power Behind the Data: How Data Centers Are Built:
Data centers are the unsung heroes of the digital world. These centers store, process, and distribute massive amounts of data, enabling everything from cloud computing to banking to streaming video. In this episode, we journey inside the T5 Data Center in Elk Grove Village. T5 Data Centers designs the data systems that power companies across the country.
Building these data facilities falls on construction partners. In Chicagoland, that’s Gibson Electric, an Emcor Company and Powering Chicago contractor. Gibson Electric is expanding T5 Data Center’s current 174-000-square-foot building by an extra 30,000 to 40,000 square feet.
When complete, the facility's capacity will reach 30 megawatts. Ensuring the electrical systems reliability for T5 Data Centers is a priority for mission-critical construction contractor Gibson Electric. The slightest interruption, even mere seconds of downtime, could have far-reaching consequences. We take you into how the facility is specifically built to avoid these issues.
The episode features insights from the following industry professionals:
- Robbie Sovie, LEED AP, T5 Data Centers, Executive Vice President, Development & Construction
- Matt Kelly, LEED AP, Gibson Electric an Emcor Company, Senior VP Operations
