Jim Ramey

James E. Ramey, an avid and enthusiastic supporter of Hocking Hills State Park, regretfully passed away at the age of 68 on December 21, 2020. A resident of Ashville, Ohio and a 1970 graduate of Teays Valley High School, Jim spent 26 years as a machine operator for Kroger Bakery in Columbus prior to his retirement. In addition, he also worked for 24 years as a mechanic at Foxfire Golf Club in Lockbourne, Ohio.

Jim was deeply involved with the Boy Scouts of America, and in 2013 he helped found the Trail Life Ohio troop of the national Trail Life USA organization. In addition to frequently visiting and hiking throughout Hocking Hills State Park, Jim was an avid rappeler, and served as an instructor for Ohio Rappel Masters. He deeply loved to rappel at Hocking Hills State Park.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Rita, his sons J.R. and Joshua, grandchildren, and numerous loving family members. Rita has requested that those who knew and loved Jim honor him by making a donation to the Friends Of The Hocking Hills State Park in his name.
