Communication Shake Up!

Communication Shake-Up!

Workplace communication is directly related to company success. As much as it's important for younger generations entering the workforce to respect the way things are done, management can also let younger employees shake things up a bit! Generations Y and Z have grown up in a world where most have experienced instant communication gratification (i.e. texting, messenger apps, etc.). According to an article by Sarah K. White, based on the 2016 Digital Workplace Communications Survey, these incoming employees might help improve your company's communications if you let them. Here are some suggestions:

  • Ask employees if they have everything they need in order to be successful
  • Speak their language: find out how they prefer to communicate and use it
  • Involve younger employees in decisions regarding technology upgrades

Action Step:
Update your current communication methods and procedures to keep younger employees engaged, efficient and productive.
