In 2005, Special Agent Matt Schommer began his career with the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation in the Pittsburgh, PA, field office. Originally from Minnesota, in 2010, he transferred to the Chicago field office where he has focused on major financial crimes, including tax evasion, money laundering and securities fraud. Special Agent Schommer has participated in the investigations of various financial advisors and Ponzi schemes, including Trevor Cook, Jason Beckman, Sean Meadows and Jeremy Lundin. Special Agent Schommer was featured with other case agents on the American Greed episode “Talk Radio Takedown.” In the fall of 2015, he took over as the Bank Secrecy Act Coordinator for the Chicago Field Office and currently runs the Minnesota Financial Review Task Force.
