Many Arkansas animal shelters fall victim to fraudulent check scam
AOL
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Arkansas State Animal Control Association is on alert as scammers are sniffing around looking to steal from rescue shelters.
The association warned the public about a scam where rescue shelters would receive a check with a donation in the mail, but the checks were fraudulent, leading to overdrawn bank accounts and other issues.
“It sucks,” said Terre Wood, the owner of NovaStar Rescue in Dover who is a victim of the scam.
