Greencroft Communities is a faith based, non-profit provider of senior housing, services and programs throughout northern Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. With campuses in Goshen, Middlebury, South Bend, New Carlisle, Fort Wayne, and DeMotte in Indiana, Holt in Michigan, and Walnut Creek in Ohio, the organization has grown in its 15-year history as a system and it affiliates with up to 90+ years of history, meeting the needs of today’s older adults. In keeping with its Mennonite values and high standards of care, Greencroft Communities is committed to creating dynamic communities that embrace the creativity, contributions and challenges of aging for all. The organization is home to over 2,200 residents and employs a dedicated team of over 1,300 staff members. 

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Director of Giving serves as a key member of the management team by participating in strategic planning, providing leadership in sharing Greencroft’s story, and ensuring funding to continue Greencroft’s mission. The position involves a high degree of professional competency in developing, marketing and implementing an annual fund, relationship-based fund raising, donor recognition, and special events. The Director will proactively identify new, innovative methods for recognition and engagement with a goal to increase foundation resources and position Greencroft Foundation to actively, aggressively and successfully grow endowments and undesignated revenues. 

This senior development role requires a seasoned development professional with a rich understanding of donor cultivation and fundraising and the capacity to carry a vision and inspire others to act toward that vision. This position will play a key role in advancing the organization’s mission and will include designing and implementing a multi-faceted development program. The finalist will have an entrepreneurial spirit that translates into a willingness to take action and be successful. (S)he must have previous accomplishments in cultivating and expanding donor relationships, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills including public speaking to small and large audiences. In addition, (s)he must be willing and able to effect a culture change in the organization to be more aggressive in seeking input and donations from the boards, and extending the fundraising capabilities beyond annual giving campaigns. A Bachelor's degree is required and a minimum of five years (seven to ten years preferred) experience and documented success in leading and managing the development function in a not-for-profit, preferably a senior retirement setting. Previous grant writing experience required and CFRE preferred.
