Mandatory EVV Beginning in August for Phase II Services, ODM Offers Their Assistance

Beginning August 5, Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) will be mandatory for Phase II services in Ohio. LeadingAge Ohio is partnering with the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) to get the word out about EVV and the training that these providers are required to take. If you are a new EVV user, you must complete the training before you can access the EVV system.

There are several types of trainings you can choose from, including instructor-led classroom training offered in seven different locations across the state, webinar training offered online, and self-paced online training.

Classroom and Webinar trainings are only offered until August 3, 2019. The feedback from providers has shown Classroom and Webinar trainings are the most effective ways to train. Registration for trainings are found on the ODM website.

Please be sure to sign up for the training that applies to you. To sign up for the training, you must have your ODM issued Provider Medicaid ID. If you are unsure what your ODM-issued Medicaid Provider ID is, please contact your payer for assistance or check the training tab on the EVV webpage for instructions for finding your Medicaid ID.

Users can begin using the system as soon as the training is complete in order to become familiar with it before the August 5 deadline. If you experience any trouble registering for the training, please contact the EVV Provider Hotline at (855) 805-3505. One-on-one Technical Assistance Available for Phase I Providers Implementing EVV

The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) has reached out to LeadingAge Ohio to offer another round of one-on-one technical assistance sessions for Phase I providers implementing the Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system.  These sessions are available to all Phase I providers, but may be especially helpful for those providers receiving communications from ODM regarding ongoing difficulty using EVV. Please note that only providers of Phase I services are eligible for these sessions.  

Staff from Sandata and ODM will be available to assist providers with questions regarding EVV and the impact on claims.  The sessions will be approximately one hour in length. Pre-registration is required.

Phase I service include the following services reimbursed directly by ODM:

• Home Health Nursing
• Home Health Aide
• Private Duty Nursing
• RN Assessment
• Ohio Home Care Waiver Nursing
• Ohio Home Care Waiver Personal Care Aide
• Ohio Home Care Waiver Home Care Attendant.

The one-on-one technical assistance sessions are held in the ODM offices located in the Lazarus Building, 50 West Town Street, Columbus, Ohio.  Interested providers of Phase 1 services can sign up on  the ODM website.

Note that these sessions are only for providers of Phase I Services ONLY.  ODM will be collaborating with the Ohio Department of Aging, the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, and the managed care plans to develop a plan for technical assistance for Phase II providers, which include PASSPORT, managed care and waivers administered through the Department of Developmental Disabilities.

ODM offering a EVV System Webinar to provide support for alternate EVV system users

ODM is also offering a EVV System Webinar to provide additional information on what it means for an agency provider to use an alternate EVV system.

It will also cover key information to know regarding the requirements for using an alternate EVV system and the Alt EVV Certification Process.
