Dr. Alan Szagesh – Medicare: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (9a-12p)

Join MAC Insurance Committee Chair Dr. Alan Szagesh for this in-depth look at Medicare. Dr. Szagesh will discuss the Medicare Local Coverage Determination and Internet Only Manual, what Medicare will cover, par vs. non-par, required documentation, treatment plans, maintenance care, the Office of the Inspector General’s perception of chiropractic, an overview of the audit process, and audit prevention strategies every office should know. A graduate of Life, Dr. Alan Szagesh has been practicing in Michigan for more than 20 years. He currently is the Chair of the MAC’s Insurance Relations Committee. He has previously served his state association as a member of the Board of Directors, district president, and committee chair. He has been awarded numerous times for his extraordinary service to the association. He has also served as the Michigan representative to the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA).

Mr. Carl Alden and Ms. Stephanie Davidson – Insurance Update

In this seminar, Carl and Stephanie will cover the most up-to-date strategies for billing, coding, and other considerations in Michigan’s Medicaid system, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Priority Health, and auto no-fault. Also on the agenda is a presentation on the proper use of the 59 modifier. Bring your questions, because Carl and Stephanie have the answers! 

Carl Alden is the Michigan Association of Chiropractors’ resident specialist on insurance. Most of his days are spent on the phone assisting MAC members with a variety of insurance issues. Along with these duties, Carl is also the MAC Governmental Relations Director. He is a graduate of Michigan State University.

Stephanie Davidson is the MAC’s new coding specialist. She is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
