Our legislation to end discriminatory policies against chiropractors and our patients has been introduced in the Michigan Senate. Senate Bills 282 and 283, known as the Patient Equity Act, would end provisions in Michigan law that currently allow auto no-fault and workers’ compensation carriers to elect not to pay for services legally delivered by Michigan chiropractors. These provisions force patients to forgo care, pay out-of-pocket for a benefit that is covered by the insurer, or seek riskier and higher cost treatment models, often involving costly surgery or dangerous and addictive opioid painkillers.
