MiPLUS Open for Renewal of Chiropractic Licenses Beginning October 5, 2021

As we informed you in late August, beginning this year, the State of Michigan is moving chiropractors to the Michigan Professional Licensing User System (MiPLUS). MiPLUS is the State’s online licensing and regulatory database for health and occupational professionals in Michigan. Chiropractors were one of the few health professions that had yet to move to this system, which is administered by the Bureau of Professional Licensing within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. The change came about as part of a general rule update earlier this year.

Beginning Tuesday, October 5, 2021, chiropractic licensees whose licenses expire in 2021 may renew their license in the new system, www.michigan.gov/miplus.

Please note: The State of Michigan advises that providers whose licenses expire this year SHOULD NOT attempt to register an account in the MiPLUS system before October 5, 2021. Doing so will “negatively impact the time it takes you to renew your license and will likely require that you call us for assistance before you are able to complete the renewal process online.”

“Issue Date” Expiration

The biggest change that will come about with the new MiPLUS system is that your future license expiration date will be based on your initial licensure date, rather than expiring on November 30th every other year.

We have been informed by the State of Michigan’s Bureau of Professional Licensing that your initial license after the changeover will be at least two years, to get it to line up with the original month/day issue date.  Subsequent renewal cycles will be two years in length.

New licenses, which under the old system were issued most often for a duration of one year or less, will now be for the full two-year license period.
