Time-Sensitive Information for DCs Participating in MIBAC!

We are sharing this information because MAC has received questions from our member doctors about MIBAC. As you know, the MIBAC collaboration is being managed by Henry Ford Health Systems, and, if you need additional information, please contact CQI Program Manager Diane Walkerdine, MPT, at dwalker3@hfhs.org.

You are receiving this email because you have completed MIBAC Training (L1), whether at a MAC convention or through the MIBAC webinar portal. Completion of this training is the first step in participating with MIBAC. Additional participation is not mandatory. However, if you wish to continue and take the next steps in the MIBAC program, including taking part in the MIBAC value-based reimbursement (VBR) system, here is what you need to do:

  1. Surveys. Respond to three surveys focused on practice patterns related to low back pain. The first of these surveys is live and available to complete here. Answers should be based on your individual experience and practice patterns. Surveys are completely confidential, and the information provided will help determine and shape both registry information and best practice outcomes. The other two surveys are tentatively scheduled for July and October. The initial survey will close on Friday, May 20, 2022, so be sure to complete it as soon as possible.
  2. Webinars. Participate in two of three 60-minute webinars offered by MIBAC. The 1st of the series has multiple dates set: May 11, 5:30-6:30pm; May 19, 9:00-10:00am; and, June 9, 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Henry Ford Health System is solely responsible for the content of these webinars, which are designed for MDs/DOs and other provider groups, not just chiropractors. The MAC has received word from some chiropractors who have an issue with the subject matter of the first webinar: “The Pharmacologic Management of Pain.” If you find this subject objectionable, remember that you are not required to take all three webinars, just two of the three. Click here to register and check dates for the other two webinars available in August and November.
  3. Year-End Survey. In December, respond to a year-end survey regarding feedback and recommendations for MIBAC.

Providers* who complete the tasks above will receive a 2% VBR payment increase, beginning March 1, 2023.

* Please note: You must be a BCBSM provider to receive the 2% VBR payment increase.
