Hospitality Institute of Ohio established Hospitality Reserve (formerly Ohio Restaurant Employee Relief Fund) in 2020 to provide funding for restaurant, foodservice and hospitality employees whose incomes were dramatically affected by the pandemic and its related circumstances. With the pandemic behind us, we have shifted our focus towards efforts that financially support Ohio hospitality employees' needs and those of their families in times of crisis, such as theft, fire, illness, catastrophic life changing event, or loss of a loved one under the newly established Hospitality Reserve.
Our generous donors helped raise over $775,000. These donations have assisted countless individuals in their ability to purchase groceries, pay utilities and medical expenses, keep a roof over their head and stay employed. We are so very grateful to all those who made donations as we could not have aided so many individuals and helped the communities in which they live. Your contributions made the difference in the lives of over 1,500 hospitality employees as they faced adversity. Our goal is to reach $1,000,000 to continue to provide life's necessities for hospitality employees and their families.
The hospitality community is the cornerstone of every town and city in Ohio and by working collectively over the last few years, the community has become vibrant once again. Ohio's hospitality community employs more than 585,000 of your friends, neighbors, and family. We have all celebrated life’s biggest moments, enjoyed a delicious meal, experienced warm hospitality while away from home, and remember those cherished experiences. Times like these have shown us first-hand the important role hospitality plays in our lives.
We look forward to your continued engagement as we begin the next chapter in our journey of supporting hospitality employees in their times of need.
