Physicians' Day at the Legislature
Wednesday, March 13, 2019
Every other year physicians, physician assistants, residents, medical students, and legislators come together at the Maine State Capitol to engage in discussions on important health policy issues including access to affordable, quality healthcare for all Mainers. We hope you will join your colleagues on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 8-4 p.m. Whether you’ve attended Physicians’ Day at the Legislature several times or never before, it is important for clinicians to visit with legislative members to represent your profession and your patients outside of the clinical setting. Decisions made at the State Capitol and in Congress have a major impact on medicine, making it particularly important for physicians to be engaged in the political process. During Physicians’ Day at the Legislature, you will have the opportunity to engage with your legislators, including meetings with leadership in both the House of Representatives and Senate, and other officials. We are hopeful that we will be able to schedule an audience with the new Governor as we have done previously. Physicians will have a chance to speak up on issues of significant to physicians such as health care reform, Medicaid funding, scope of practice issues, state budget priorities, mental health wellness, prevention efforts and more.
