Full Time Oncology Pharmacy Coordinator

Hospital setting in Ann Arbor is seeking a full time Oncology Pharmacy Coordinator to begin immediately.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D.
  • Maintenance of 30 continuing education credits every two years as required by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • 3-5 years of progressively more responsibility in related work experience. Management experience in infusion services is preferred.
  • Current State of Michigan Pharmacist license, or eligibility for licensure
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively train, counsel, and lead pharmacy staff and conduct productive customer-supplier relationships with Health System personnel.
  • Knowledge of medications, dosages, compounding, and dispensing in order to prepare and dispense medications and other pharmaceutical supplies in a safe manner, and to provide advice and guidance on medications to physicians, nurses, and patients. Performs infusion clinic pharmacist responsibilities on a routine basis as workload dictates.
  • Written communication skills to effectively produce memoranda, policies and procedures, and performance evaluations.
  • Solid analytical skills to effectively develop, implement, and continually improve operational workflow systems.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of health system and departmental policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and regulatory agency laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Organizational skills necessary to implement projects in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the decision-making hierarchy within the health system as it relates to implementing system changes.

Partial Job Description:

  • Maintains knowledge of infusion therapies, demonstrates expertise in reimbursement, participates in multidisciplinary education programs, and can independently recognize and resolve issues related to usage of infusion therapies.
  • Coordinates sterile product compounding, including staff training and technique certification, end product testing, process validation, and related quality control requirements. Serves as a primary contact for regional compounding activities.
  • Balances financial considerations with customer service issues when making recommendations regarding treatment plans.
  • Is prospectively involved with provisions of pharmaceutical care and the promotion of high quality, cost-effective, patient-focused care considering age-specific needs. Actively participates in CQI reimbursement and inventory control initiatives.
  • Generates staffing schedules, submits payroll documentation, and performs related record keeping functions
  • Identifies and provides input on information and infusion technology as it relates to the area of practice and assists with implementation and compliance with computer applications.
  • Participates in the coordination and development of research programs, especially those related to infusion services
  • Educates physicians, employees and other allied disciplines about the goals and rationale of the institution's quality of care and cost containment programs related to the usage of infusion therapies.
